Mater Matuta (Caffo Studio) is a curatorial and research agency based in Torino. Founded in 2023 by Leonardo Caffo, Giulia Turconi and Valentina Viviani, they investigate the status of human evolution and society, acting within a hybrid of art, design, philosophy and curatorial studies. Our approach to design is based on the critique of anthropocentrism and the rediscovery of Mediterranean thought.
Mater Matuta (Caffo Studio) has worked and collaborated with Triennale Milano, Ca’ del Bosco, Gallerie di Italia Museum, Radice Pura Foundation, Venice Architecture Biennale, among others.
They taught at ABADIR Academy in Sicily as directors of Mater Matuta Master | Curatorial Practice and Contemporary Philosophy of the Mediterranean. The study and practice of curatorial studies through the philosophical analysis of the concept of the contemporary from a ‘Mediterranean’ perspective.
